We are currently not taking anymore pre-orders for the Timmy V3. When this changes, we will update this listing!
From Paul Cochrane:
The Timmy came out in 2004 and was based on the main section of the “Tim” pedal which came out in 1997. This new version has several changes to increase its flexibility, make it more user friendly, and to bring it closer to the earliest Tim pedals.
Those familiar with the pedal will notice that the Bass & Treble controls now turn the “normal” way. They’re still “cut” controls doing the same thing as before, but max cut is now “0” (7 o’clock) and full/flat response is at “10” (5 o’clock). The gain has been reduced by half to “Tim” levels making it easier to dial in the clean to edge of breakup tones.
The toggle switch is no longer a clipper selector, but is now a redesigned boost mode based around the Tim. This takes things into higher gain while also offering different low gain/edge of breakup tones due to a change in the ed response. The bass control takes on more of a mid-range effect in this mode. There is an internal dip switch that offers a choice between symmetrical and asymmetrical clipping.
The trick to the pedal is in how the tone controls work with the gain control. The bass is pre-clipping, and the treble is post-clipping. At low gain settings you can have the bass and treble all the way up for a full sound, or use them to adjust the EQ of the pedal. When you start adding distortion, you’ll want to reduce the low end. Distorting low frequencies can sound “muddy and woofy.” Once you’ve pulled out some bass to keep things” tight” you may have a bright/harsh sound due to the reduction in the low end plus the higher harmonics produced by clipping. Roll down the treble to smooth things out,
The pedal can be run on +9vdc to +18Vdc “center pin negative” 2.1mm power supplies and has a current draw of 15ma.
