From Morgan Electrics:
General Philosophy
Our take on classic design meets function
Guitars are completely subjective – we get that. We are building what inspires us. We are not trying to redesign a ’57 Chevy or ’64 Impala. Our guitars are made from handpicked blanks, our wood is sourced from the US, and handcrafted top to bottom in the USA. We make our own pickups that are loosely based on ’50s and ’60s specs that we find interesting and frankly, just sound excellent. Our hardware is what we love from our experience and are just passing on what we like.
We do 100% Nitrocellulose finishes – real nitro – not poly binding fakes. We do not scratch a guitar and call it a relic. We think we come up with some pretty cool stuff, and if it inspires you, great. We encourage you to get whatever makes you want to actually play the guitar, even if you do not find it here.
There are camps that think they know exactly how a relic should look – this isn’t realistic or that isn’t realistic. That mentality is pretty short-sighted especially when you find out how a person uses it for example, this guy was in a wheelchair and played it for 20 years as a professional gigging musician vs a guy in his pajamas on the couch twice a week before bed vs the guy that didn’t have a decent case so he wedged it in the seat between his center console and the passenger seat 3 times a week for 10 years. I still have never seen realistic flames on a ’57 Chevy either. We are just making things that look interesting to us and are sharing them with the world. We really do not even do relics – what you are looking at is a simple to very complicated paint job done by a painter with 40 years experience painting lacquers on guitars, motorcycles, and hotrods.
It has just been our experience that what is out there is mostly just subjective nonsense or worse, a crappy relic job to cover the crappy paint job and fool you into spending a ton of money on an offshore guitar because they have name recognition. That is not what we are selling. We are just a small company launched by the Morgan brothers who love to play guitar, happen to be engineers, and are able to apply a little science to our creativity. Enjoy!
