It has been tested and gone over by the experts at our shop to ensure it’s working properly and is free of issues, unless otherwise noted in this listing. – Condition: 9/10

– Any wear of note: There’s a couple of extremely light and minor scuffs or marks, but nothing at all glaring. There is one highlighted in a photo but most of the wear doesn’t really show up in photographs that well because it’s so light. The amp is really in incredible shape overall and in full working order! It was blatantly very well taken care of and maintained. No weird smells or anything.

– Other notes: Everything Carr makes is absolutely fantastic. Always exemplary craftsmanship with nothing but amazing and inspiring tones. This Mercury is no exception! It’s the original 8 watt version and is truly the perfect recording amp, and very ideal for at home use! The built in attenuator allows you to really drive the tubes and get lots of the rich harmonic overtones we all love from a cranked amp, while keeping the volume wherever you want it. And the Boost knob and Cut switch allow for even more versatility, and really come in handy with how they react when using the attenuator and pushing the amp. It’s really an amazing sounding amp that seems simple on the surface, but has tons of tones under the hood! Includes the pictured padded cover only (power cable is hardwired).

Mercury

The Mercury is an astonishingly versatile amplifier—especially when it comes to home and studio use. The unique built-in attenuator allows full output tube overdrive to be used at real world home volumes, freeing you to enjoy the visceral sound and feel of a cranked, overdriven power section. Along with this ability, the Mercury offers beautiful 60s American clean tones a combination rarely found in any amplifier.

Volume – Adjusts the loudness of the amplifier.

3 Position Boost –

Position 1: 60s American sound with great warmth
Position 2: Increases gain by defeating the tone controls (Treble and Bass) while trimming low end for a focused overdrive tone
Position 3: Further increases gain from the tone stack and reverb circuit while the low-end focus is refined. Tone controls are defeated.

Treble – Varies the top end from dark to bright when Boost position 1 is selected. The Treble control is bypassed on Boost positions 2 and 3. Use the Cut Switch (see below) to adjust the treble with Boost positions 2 and 3.

Bass – Varies the low end from lean to full when Boost position 1 is selected. The Bass control is bypassed on Boost positions 2 and 3.

Reverb – Controls the amount of reverb from none to deep and lush.

4 position Attenuator (“Output”) – Selects power output to the speaker. The Mercury is always making its full 8 watts, but by selecting 8, 2, ½, or 1/10* watt, the amount of power that reaches the speaker is varied. The lower power settings allow you to achieve the tonal characteristics of high volume control settings at quieter listening levels.

Cut Switch – Rolls off the high frequencies for a more mellow tone when the switch baton is down. This works especially well when Boost positions 2 and 3 are in use.

Standby – Set amp to Standby (switch baton down) before turning on the power switch (see On-Off-On below). After 1 minute of warm up, switch the Standby baton up. The amp is ready to be played. Using the Standby switch every time the amp is turned on will prolong

On – Off – On – Selects between two ON positions and the OFF position (middle). The two ON’s are wired in opposite phase of each other. If you receive a shock from another piece of equipment (a microphone or another amp) that is not properly grounded, or if you hear static, switching to the opposite ON may solve the problem. This is sometimes called “switching polarity”.

Fuse – In the unlikely event that a tube fails, the amp is protected by a 1 Amp slow blow fuse for 120v and 100v (North America and Japan) models and a 0.5 Amp slow blow fuse for 220v and 240v (Asia and Europe) models. Please consult us or a qualified tech for assistance in the event of a fuse blowing. The fuse is located on the bottom of the chassis by the power cord.

Speaker output jack – The Mercury is designed for 8-ohm loads. Maximum power and tone will be realized when running into an 8-ohm speaker or cabinet. Using a speaker configuration resulting in more or less than an 8-ohm load can damage the Mercury when using attenuator settings 2, ½, or 1/10*. On the 8 watt attenuator setting (full power), the Mercury can drive a non-8-ohm load (4 – 16 ohms); however, you will loose a little power from the mismatch, and the power tube will have to work a bit harder and thus age faster. The speaker output jack is located to the left of the power tube on the back of the chassis.

Orders shipping outside the Lower 48 States to Hawaii, Alaska, Puerto Rico and international orders do not qualify for free shipping. Orders shipping to U.S. Military APO/FPO addresses, PO Boxes, and US territories (Guam, Virgin Islands, etc.) can only ship USPS. NOTE: Boxes over 70 lbs each cannot be shipped to these locations.

As a security precaution, orders over $200.00 will only ship to the address your credit card company has on file for you.

*Korg and Mesa/Boogie products are only available for shipment within the USA.

Returns

We want you to be completely happy with your purchase, so we offer a 48 hour approval period on most purchases (see exclusions below). The 48 hour approval period begins when your purchased item is delivered to your door. If after 48 hours you’re not happy with the item, just contact us via phone, email or live chat on our website to arrange for a return authorization (RA#) and return shipping instructions. Any package sent back without prior authorization will be refused.

Returns must be shipped back to us within two days of the RA being issued. Items must come back to us undamaged and in the same condition they were shipped out. All manuals, paperwork, cables, tremolo arms, wrenches, etc… must be included or full credit will not be issued. Any items not conforming to this policy will be subject (at our discretion) to a restocking fee of 20% of the purchase price.

Refunds will be issued minus all related shipping expenses, if free shipping was initially given, the cost we incurred to get the item to you will be deducted from your refund. A 10% restock fee will also be deducted from your refund. Restock fees will be waived for full value exchanges.

Here are exceptions to our return policy.

Custom orders of any kind are non returnable and non refundable. We often charge a deposit before we will place a custom or special order. All special order deposits are NON REFUNDABLE, no exceptions.
Microphones, Harmonicas, In-Ear Systems and any other items that come into contact with your mouth or ears.
Items labeled as BLOWOUT, are non-returnable. These are often being sold below cost and are considered “all sales final”.
Software (this may also include hardware that includes software), unless still in shrink wrap with barcode affixed.
Guitar strings, blank media, and other disposable merchandise.
Guitar or bass pickups that have been installed or used in any way.
Any item advertised as “USED” is non returnable.

Early Order Cancellation

All deposits are non refundable. Lots of our products are special orders and in many cases your order has to be built for you at the factory. This is what makes a lot of our products special. Once your order is started, it's being put together just for you. For this reason we ask that you don't cancel your order after you place it with us. If for some reason you absolutely have to cancel your order with us, we will assess you a 25% cancellation charge. This amount is equal to 25% of your total order amount. Ask us before you place your order to see if what you're purchasing is considered a special order.

Damaged Merchandise

Do not accept your shipment if the package shows any signs of external damage. After the item is returned to us we will ship you a replacement. If you receive incorrect or defective merchandise, please call 781-335-0700 within 5 days for a return authorization number.
