Description

From 3rd Power:

BRITISH CHIME, CRUNCH AND HIGH GAIN

Two Switchable Tone Stacks, Foot-switchable Gain, Tube Buffered Loop and more!

Plugging into a Plexi cranked to “10” and hitting a chord is like kicking down a door and nothing but splintered wood remains. That kind of tone an energy fueled guitar heroes like Hendrix, Page, Angus, Halen and Slash and we’ve been hooked ever since. The Dirty Sink is designed for that huge Plexi tone and energy loaded into a compact head or grab-n-go 112 combo. As artists sought to better replicate their recorded tones, studio effects devices become integrated into their live rig. One way this was done was via “slaving” one amp into another with an FX processor inserted into the path. The DIRTY SINK makes easy work of accomplishing the same thing by way of our all tube Class-A pedal friendly FX loop. And of course, our award-winning Hybrid-Master volume circuitry is on board so you can have the ultimate Plexi tones at any volume that’s right for the room – even if that’s in the home when more than a whisper might get you in trouble!

• Rich Plexi Tones (vintage clean to scorching mean)
• Switchable Tone Stacks (’65 JTM, ’68 JMP)
• Foot-switchable higher gain mode
• Head and combo versions available
• Tube Buffered Pedal Friendly FX Loop
• Hand-built PTP on Turret Boards in Nashville, TN
• Patented Hybrid-MASTER Volume Control
• Custom American-made Transformers
• 2 x JJ 6V6S power tubes, up to 25W

The DIRTY SINK is based on the Hot-rodded Plexi channel of our flagship Kitchen Sink 6VEL. Tones range from sparkling clean, to raw crunch, to modern saturation. Features include foot-switchable preamp gain, tube buffered FX Loop, our patented Hybrid-Master and packs it all into a compact amp head or grab-n-go 112 combo (about the size of a *Princeton).

The Dirty Sink features a tone stack voicing switch that delivers the sweeter ’65 (JTM) tone control voicing and balanced gain response in one position, and the more in your face ’68 (JMP) voicing in the other. The Gain control knob cascades through multiple tube gain stages in a unique way that starts out with Classic Plexi tones early on the dial giving way to scorching High Gain tones later on. The Gain Boost switch engages even more gain as well as kicking in our unique clipping diode circuit that gives you the sustain and precision of a ‘Jose’ but retains the organic Plexi clarity when backing off of the guitar’s volume control. This extra gain mode is foot switchable. See below for a description of each of the three individual amp voices available in the Dirty Sink.

’65 JTM

The JTM45 debuted in ’65 bringing the punch and sustain of a certain American style bass amp but with a decidedly British angst. One circuit common to both was the tone stack featuring a 56k ohm slope resistor and a 250pf treble capacitor. This made for a sweeter tone with emphasis on the melody strings.

’68 JMP

The JMP amplifiers debuted around late ’67 bringing with it a distinctive mid-range frequency slice, increased sustain and of course, more power. One design tweak made a huge impact: a 33k ohm slope resistor and a 470pf treble capacitor. This increased overall gain, slice and punch… mission accomplished.

’80S ‘JOSE’

The ‘Jose’ mod isn’t actually one particular mod but a number of circuit tweaks that players were having done to their Plexis back in the day. One thing is for sure, players wanted MORE GAIN and DISTORTION and some of Jose’s mods, cascading preamp tube stages and clipping diodes sure made a lot of people happy! This feature is foot switchable on the Dirty Sink.
